Layers

Here you are once again
standing at my door.
The hurt and sorrow in you eyes
like so many times before.
I should walk away from this
pretend that I don’t care,
but you strip away my layers
and once again you lay me bare.
the thought of you not touching me
and toying with my mind,
melts away the moments
of things said that were unkind.
It’s a crazy kind of love,
you’re in my being through and though.
I cannot walk alone though life
when I could make that walk with you.
